All aboard for Cadwell

The picturesque Lincolnshire track of Cadwell Park is the setting for the next chapter of the 2014 season in the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship.

Forty Mk1 drivers will descend on Cadwell Park tomorrow for rounds 6, 7 and 8 and with so many entries, the grid will again be split into groups A & B to accommodate everyone, meaning six fantastic races are on the schedule at the ‘mini Nürburgring’.

James Blake-Baldwin came away from Anglesey last month with the maximum points haul from the triple-header and the Farnham racer has fond memories of Cadwell Park as it was there last June that he put an end to Tom Roche’s dominance, winning two of the three races. As he did at Anglesey, James will be hoping the experienced gained last year will give me the edge over his rivals.

With the dropped scores system not coming into play until after tomorrow’s first race, James currently lies twelfth in the points table after the opening five rounds. After the sixth round James can then shed his DNF in the first race of the season at Silverstone, so when the drivers leave Cadwell on Sunday evening the table may look very different.

Current leader JJ Clements will be doing his utmost to ensure that isn’t the case as will AK Automotive’s Alan Henderson whose consistency has moved him up into second place, just fourteen points adrift of JJ.
