Roche strengthens title claim

Thirty-eight cars lined-up at Brands Hatch for rounds 14 & 15, making it the largest grid of the season so far.

Following on from his resurgence at Anglesey at the beginning of August, Tom Roche firmly banished any doubts about his title credentials with back to back wins in the A group race. His closest challenger, James Blake-Baldwin, followed Roche home in each race and the third place spoils were shared between Brett Smith and Alan Henderson, who finally delivered the podium finish he had been threatening.

In the two B group races, there were first wins of the season for Bexley’s Joshua Jackson and Jade Edwards. Jackson beat Dan O’Connor to the line and were joined on the podium by Simon Woods, who produced by far and away his best ever performance, which also won the popular Sutton racer the ‘Driver of the Event’ award.

The double-header was Jade Edwards’ first race meeting in almost a year, and after a good qualifying session, things took a turn for the worst with a DNF after 8 laps in the first A group race. This relegated the Maidenhead racer to the B group for the second outing, where she was obviously the class of the field winning by fourteen and half seconds from Mazda debutant Jordan Albert with Alex Roberts another four seconds back in third.

A full meeting report will be on this website shortly. In the meantime, the results can be found at Brands results.
