The BRSCC test day took place at a damp and drizzly Donington Park yesterday and the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship was well represented.

Seven drivers who have registered for the 2014 championship took the opportunity to shake-down their cars, including newcomers David Staples and Bruce Carter. However, it was the experienced Martin Tolley who set the pace, topping the Mk1 time-sheets in each of the six sessions. Martin's quickest time around the national circuit was 1.29.988, which he set in the last session of the day when the track had thankfully dried out.

There were another two Mk1s in action with potential competiitors for the 2014 season trying the cars out. Michael and Henry Lawson were tutored by 2013 champion Tom Roche while former Mk1 driver Rob Boston passed on his knowledge to Ged Kelly.

You can see all the timings at http://www.tsl-timing.com/brscc/2014/141031tsp.pdf

Also in operation on the day was the impressive new MX-5 hospitality awning which will be present in the paddock at every championship round this season. During the lunch interval, Championship co-ordinator Drew Furlong took the opportunity to welcome all the Mk1 and Mk3 drivers who were present and outlined the plans for both championships this season. Championship Permanent Clerk Of the Course Glynn Lee and the Chief Scrutineer Chris Baker also updated those present on changes for the new season, with Glynn paying particular attention to the new track limits ruling.

Just a reminder that entries for all rounds are now open and it is only four weeks before we all gather at Silverstone for rounds 1 & 2!
